The Southern Cross was the name of the Fokker Trimotor that was flown by Charles Kingsford-Smith on the first-ever trans-Pacific flight from the mainland US to Australia. Later that year, Kingsford-Smith also flew the same aircraft across the Tasman Sea from Australia to New Zealand, and back.
The aircraft is now on permanent display near Brisbane airport in Australia.
